Under the Paycheck

Under the Paycheck

A Poem by b.conmartel

Life it seems just isn't fair
Now fate meets my unlucky pair
A stroke of pen upon the page
A sign that I accept the wage

To work at night before the dawn
And keep in mind a simple song
Of days so young and hearts so full
I hope that I can make it through

The days of work within the sun
Feeling like the life's just begun
Full of promise, hope, and peace
Like war and hardship are to cease

When long lost loves have just returned
To feel the strain and mental burn
In hopes that life will turn anew
And that the skies return to blue

This is quite lovely, I wish our lovely Atlantic would turn back to blue! This was a pleasure to read.

This is pretty good. You did the couplet rhyme scheme well. Normally it feels very forced, but you made it seem natural. The only things I had a problem with were some wording of the lines, not the rhymes, but the sentence structures. However, that is probably just my dialect wanting center-stage, so don't worry about that. The ending is nice. It shows a kind of hope we all aspire to. Very well done.
