Fair WeatherA Poem by Katie LynnI wrote this in H/S (so... pre 2004) It was when I was really upset at people for never having my back the way I had theirs
You listen to me when I don't speak,
You dry the teardrops that I don't cry You block all the pain that isn't real. I know you're here when I don't need you I know your promises, every word and pause I know you're saying you'll always be there. You are there when the road is easy, You are holding a coat for me in summer You are holding a promise of formality. When I admit I'm not strong enough alone When I finally cry out for a helping heart When I actually need you, when I actually fall Is your promise made of words and pauses? Is your heart behind the words you said? Is your promise really as strong as you say? Fair weather promises melt away in the rain Fair weather statements blow away in storms Fair weather friendships fade away in dark Fair weather hearts stop beating at night © 2012 Katie Lynn |
