LaundryA Poem by jade sonderspeaks for itselfWe meet. We laugh. I do your laundry. You teach me how to play Frisbee golf and you tell me about your parents. I ask you to tell me something you've never told anyone So you tell me who you voted for. I tell you that I’m going away. You tell me not to worry. You eat your first strawberry to impress me And you eat the stem. I tell you that I’m not ready. You tell me you can wait. You wait. I tell you that I’m still not ready. We make plans for when I am. You tell me that I’m special. You wait. You wait. I break someone’s heart. You’re there for me. I tell you that I’m ready. I’ve never seen you happier. You take me to a restaurant that I know you hate. I listen to country music for the first time. You tell me that you don’t want to mess this up. I meet your best friends. They tell me that I’m special. You go to New York. I do your laundry. You hurt me. They say I deserve better. But they don't know you like I do. I tell you that I’m going away. You say you want to make it work. I get scared. We fight. You break my heart. You say I broke yours first. Maybe we would both be better off If I hadn’t done your laundry.© 2016 jade sonderFeatured Review
