Change

Change

A Poem by Sami

The sparkle of care in your eyes,

the whole-hearted tone of your voice.

The ease of pace your speech was given that

hinted toward experience.

Not believing in undeserving chances

yet taking them anyway,

Maybe somehow convinced things can change.

The sparkle of care became gloomy with guilt,

bitter became your tone.

Leaving me with your unpredictable responses.

Disappearing out of sight,

but not yet out of mind.

I long for the night the boy I once knew

comes back.

Enough nights spent wishing and wanting

it all happened so abruptly.

He's at my doorstep

with change in mind.

Staring over

but not forgetting.

One last chance to make it right.

The feeling of hope is overwhelming,

slowly taking over our minds.

Faintly I see a glimmer of happiness in your eyes.

Regret is clouding the way.

Second guessing every action

and every spoken word.

Have things really changed?

Our friendship is on a path

leading to an unkown future.

I know what you see when you look at me.

Its not the same through my eyes.

I don't see the pain, or regret I should feel.

Maybe one day

I'll learn.
