trains

trains

A Poem by Sage Gabrielle
"

i like my journey more than the destination itself. connections, after all, are the ride and not the end.

"

Trains are not for going
here     to

                                       there

They are for kissing
and hugging.
They are for looking into a lover’s eyes.
They are for whispering into tiny ears
"I like it when you hold me close"
and then being
held close and tight
so you are not tossed
by the shifting balance.

Trains are not for going
here
                 to

                                                                there

They are for the journey
I wish you knew that.

This one speaks to me on a personal level because I've ridden a lot of trains in my relatively short life. Most of the time I was going to see a lover. Other occasions, I was going to explore something I had never seen before. For those reason, I admire the reality that you have in your first eight lines. I've seen plenty of those things while riding trains, especially late at night. I'm also a fan of how you set up those first three lines...they mirror the progress of taking that journey.
