trains

i like my journey more than the destination itself. connections, after all, are the ride and not the end.

Trains are not for going
here     to

                                       there

They are for kissing
and hugging.
They are for looking into a lover’s eyes.
They are for whispering into tiny ears
"I like it when you hold me close"
and then being
held close and tight
so you are not tossed
by the shifting balance.

Trains are not for going

They are for the journey
I wish you knew that.

I've always found trains really romantic - I'm glad I'm not the only one! For me, I think it's because I associate them with the film "Before Sunrise", which this poem reminded me of as well.
