Butterflies

Located inside my body
are the butterflies that are lost.
within everyone butterflies soar,
usually they're inside your stomach,
yet mine flew right into my heart
the day i sat next to you.

i looked at you once and thought,
"the person that walks into your life..."
it was a wandering thought that escaped.
i couldn't finish the sentence...
there was just something missing.

everything seemed like a dream,
everything except for the butterflies.
my stomach stays calm as my heart goes frantic.
the butterflies flew right into my heart
the day you hugged me.

you smiled at my smile and i thought,
"who makes you realize..."
another lost thought that seems to cling.
this small puzzle formed from the heart,
seems to be piecing together with you.

then one night you came to me
with all the butterflies fluttering,
you told me you liked me.
the dream that i thought was only a dream,
became something of a reality.

we held on to each other as i thought,
"why it never worked with anyone else..."
i think of you everyday
and that thought never leaves my mind.
you're the reason i'm here
i found you finally.
