The Day the Water Froze

The Day the Water Froze

A Poem by mordin solus

one boy sits on one pier

wondering what has become of the rain around him

where it came from

where its going

where its been

he looks out on to black lake

as he watches the water touch the water

the ripples spread out from the center

the mist over the water rises up to meet his eyes

the form of a person appears behind him

it puts its gentle loving hand on his shoulder

when he looks back

nothing is there to meet him

the person smiles and sits next to the boy

until the boy grows up
