Velvet Love

Velvet Love

A Poem by b4i8islept

Velvet Love

Every morning I wake up with one less love

Taken for granted by the touch of a velvet glove

Always giving, never getting back what I need

You seem not to notice when a part of me does bleed

You say, “I love you”, then you go on your way

As my life slowly slips into a methodical decay

The roses of your words hide the thorns on your tongue

One kiss from your lips and the poison has begun

Slowly my heart dies away piece by piece it goes

Why I sit alone and cry at night only you and God knows
