Life to Me

I had to write this poem for English class and it is one of my favorite poems I've ever wrote. It's a play of the poem Mother to Son by Langston Hughes.

Well let me tell you kid
I’m not going to let you get off easy
You’re going to encounter some hard stuff
That makes living me rough
But I expect you to keep getting up
Because I am never going to let up
And sometimes will be easier than others
But that doesn’t mean you’ll get through unharmed
Sure I might scourge you
But that doesn’t mean I can’t be fun once in a while
Yeah you might laugh and giggle
And yeah you might cry and clamor
Because you realized I’m not all glitz and glamour
But I’ll be over in a flash
So enjoy me while you can
Because I’m not going to let you get off easy
