The Major Arcana

The Major Arcana

A Poem by Jerisson
"

I blame Persona. Yes, I'm late to the bandwagon.

"
"The Arcana is the means by which all is revealed." - Death

A baby boy walks into the world
A mere fool, innocent to the cruelty
Around him, his parents astounded
By the beauty held in their arms

Consciously, he awakens to the
Realization of his situation,
Aware of his parental units
And the gifts they have given to him

Unconsciously, he develops his
Hidden potential, potentially creating
A saint or a sinner,
Depending on the outcome of their efforts

The Mother, bringing affection,
Never expecting much,
Only the growth of her son
Into a caring individual

The Father, teaching him
Of the order of the world,
The laws that are put at work
So he may be a strong individual.

At last, he falls into the hands
Of his teachers, giving him knowledge
Both the professor in the classroom
And the coach at the bleachers

As he grows, he seeks love,
Desiring for another
To live with him to the end
As a partner, and a friend

Rising as an adult,
His coronation done,
The chariot rides forward,
The war believed to be won

But when strife comes,
He must remain strong
Using the powers he has gained
To move things along

Alas, his strength fails
So he physically falls
Looking inwards to himself
For the answer to it all

At last, he begins to see
The world's gears at work
Seeing the way fortune favors
The answer being his savior

The man begins to observe
His actions, their consequences
The justice of the world affecting life
Bringing both salvation and strife

He tries to move towards his goal
But cannot move on easily
Sacrifice being the only option,
He hangs at the gallows, but in peace

He is reborn through the death
Of his old methods
And brought anew into the world
As a learned man

He creates balance for himself
In all realms of the world
Into a centered being,
Nearly whole

He faces his own shadows
Of ignorance and despair,
Prepared to come out it strong,
His inner demons tamed

He seeks to go further,
Breaking down the walls of his ego
Humbling himself,
And coming closer as an earthly being

The stars in the sky inspire him,
Giving hope to the fallen
Allowing him to move forward
On the path he has treaded for so long

His only pains are the illusion
The moon brings upon him,
Bewildered by the images,
But they still become fuel to him

He strides towards enlightenment,
As bright as the sun,
Assurred of all his wishes granted,
His reign completed

His shadows conquered,
He approaches judgement
His wishes fulfilled,
His contract is done.

One with the World,
His accomplishments remembered
Himself enlightened,
He sleeps fulfilled.
