Magnet to Steel

...And yet another song-inspired poem of mine. Enjoy.

I'm attracted to you

like a magnet to steel

But my shyness repels me

as if we were the same

But we're not

 

Cause you're confident, and can work on the spot

I'm a shy dude who lets himself fall to the plot

I can't work myself to say what I feel

My voice has been locked with an unbreakable seal

 

Now I freeze when I see you

It hurts me to be near you

My feelings about you haven't changed

after I let you see them clear through

 

It's just I want you

But I don't know what to do

Shyness blocks me

Stubborness stops me

But in my mind,

you're all I think and see

 

I can't even write what I feel

Cause you are what I feel,

you're in my soul,

in my Achilles's Heel

 

I got to say

you're beautiful to me

And tonight,

you were the most beautiful girl I've ever seen

And I really mean it

I couldn't believe it

 

You were more than I could imagine

More than my shyness could handle

That's why I had to pass through

Like a stranger

But seeing you even now

As I write the truth

From the depths of my soul,

For you

 

I can't say what I feel for you

Cause my lips are shut,

so writing's what I do

I try to move my lips,

but only my legs move

When I don't want them to,

I want to be near you

 

I got no confidence

I got no spine,

but through thick and thin,

I still want you to be mine

 

It's hard to express

all this stress

and my mind's a mess

because of you

but I thank you

cause I did what I never could do

 

My feelings haven't changed

and I hope yours are like mine

So that way

We'll see each other's shadows in the sunshine

Every single time

We wake up to the morning light...
