StrikeA Poem by Azure SkyWhen letting someone in puts you in fight mode[#3] Strike I'm not the type to talk and bite Would rather sit in a corner or hide But then you come unannounced, Drag me out of my haunted house Knock all of my traps without a sound Tell me what makes you tick, Or the reason you're sick Did you forget to bring an umbrella Or did you have to deal with some kind of trauma? Did they complain about your temper Or was it something important they couldn't remember? I reach for a knife, get ready to strike Surely you'll leave once you see what's inside Idle chatter, loud laughter Where's the danger? Still, I keep my weapon close to my chest Maybe it's a test How did your day go? Did you shop around again, Got a good bargain? Will your collection grow? I can't tell why you like it so Push and pull- the game I've only ever known A worthy opponent's coming for my throne A disturbing presence Trying to shatter all of my defenses This is pretty fun Do you really not want to run? I wanna know what you do before you close your eyes at night Do you worry about tomorrow, Think about what you should've done right? Does losing her bring you sorrow? What can I do so you don't feel hollow? I'm starting to lose a few screws I'm getting too used to you I throw the knife and wish you'd stay Too late to push you away Come and take accountability Isn't this what you wanted from me?
