Wildflower

Wildflower

A Story by Azsa Wild

The horizon will never end - it should be empowering to feel so infinite. Why she came here made sense later no matter how many fears or anxieties for being trapped in this pit, it was home and it was safe it had no judgement or rush it was a sanctuary for all of us. She was running in her mind still from whatever demons but had I known it was my father maybe I wouldn't have allowed her to make me so free maybe Id ask her to teach me how to fight... How rage in her was so bottled but she constantly acted like she was not bothered, bothered by his tone, his fist, his feet, his greed, his manipulation... the sand the air the food... If I knew anything so early on it was gratitude because I just knew outside of this people had it less, no matter how small the house was or how little we had to eat I just knew people had it worse, far worse. The heatwaves were simmering olive skin in the dams outside of the town what more could children do here? We certainly had the most time to think to learn but there was no concept of time here... It was the birthplace of a wildflower.
