Empower DV survivors

"
Stand back sit down listen now
I will not take it
I won't take it anymore

You make the world so beautiful with color
An then you paint me in red black and blue
The children keep crying
Missing a man they thought was a father
He isn't even a man

I tried to cradle you
Thinking it was a childhood gone wrong
Instead it's all about power what a world
It is nobodys world
If nobody can get along

We are survivors
Not victims
I won't let you have anymore power
I know who I was in those early hours

Stand back sit down listen now
You are not in control
You are not to speak

I am a survivor
An I will keep fighting
I don't use red black and blue
I will tear up this canvas
I am gonna rip up you

YES
stand back sit down listen now
I've had enough from my schooling
I'll school you

We may both be men but one of us
has no need to be bleeding

You took me from my breakdown
Just to shut me out

An when it comes to blows
It really shows
You havent let go
Of what keeps traumatizing you

So I'm begging
Put your hand down
An hold me now
Just hold me now

I tried to cradle you
Thinking it was a childhood gone wrong
Instead it's all about power what a world
It is nobodys world
If nobody can get along

We are survivors
Not victims
I won't let you have anymore power
I know who I was in those early hours

YES
I'm watching my mothers like animals
An which one will be prey tonight
The cuts are opening even more

I can hold my teddy
But I wish my mothers were holding me
