Soldier

Soldier

A Poem by azreilla

Loading the gun one more time, pulling the trigger back one last time.

Aming for the men knowing there are many.

To many to soon, he fires the bullet slowly moves through the air.

Breathing the stiff air waiting, waiting time has stopped.

It silences his mind, the bullet pierces the man in the heart.

Blood flowing like an open river as it splashes to the ground.

Sorrow as he breaths the smell of blood.

Fear is electrifed in his petrified eyes.

He grabs his gun and runs to the field feeling pride and death sneeking around the corner.

The pride concedes his heart he feels the mighty power of killing it is unstoppable as he runs into battle with his head held high.

He laughs to himself as he is shot down by the enemy.

The bullet hits him directly between the eyes as he looks to his fellow men by his side, the blood slowly steal his sight and all is lost to the darkness.

         Nevermore.

Reality on the battlefield...truly finds application in the heart of every soldier.

Nice work...

Well written, but gory and sad.

Could this story be a little mean ?

This may be an episode, a matter of seconds out of
a life of sacrifice and dedication.

I would like to see this expanded to include , "the
rest of the story".
