Upon a White Ship

Upon a White Ship

A Poem by LA Waning

Here we are pushing shopping carts into chasms of our past
A cancer in the castle is worth two in our bush
Just take your bloody sample so I can keep sucking my thumb
We'll put our ears to the ground that's when we will hear the hum
I gave up the visage of my face a million days ago
Breaking rocks with our teeth so we can save our gums
When the night comes I best get my daily dose of numb
Only thing keeping me from loading this gun
The bullet would leave me with a glistening trace
It would leave me like this world just wanting more
I would leave upon a white ship from the Stygian shore
