The Edge of A Razor

The Edge of A Razor

A Poem by LA Waning

Outside of Babylon I dug a hole
perfect fit for a hollow soul
I knew her on the hillside
know she lays cold by the wayside
We were once friends and then lovers
but I had to sever her pulleys
I had to break all her switches and levers
I had to throw my toy affray
and then I had to stow away

Darkness comes viscous and thick for me
Ink to coat my eyes and make me see
That some day soon I'll be the one in the ground
I guess what goes around it comes around

Throw me in the cold cold earth
don't place those coins upon my eyes
for that's all that I am worth
I was a wolf in lamb's disguise
I fed from my prey with lies
I won't have a tomb engraved
I'll make sure your prayers are saved
Deep down in Hell my bed is made
I carved my way there with a razor blade
