Like Nicotine

Like Nicotine

A Poem by Jezebel Marie
"

I dated a guy who tasted like Marlboro Reds when we kissed. It was what I remember most about the relationship, and therefore inspired this.

"

Some people are meant to smoke.
It curls around their words, their smell, their taste...
Like you and your red cornered box.
And the way your lips barely part as you inhale it
and exhale the words, "I adore you."

I pretend that smoke doesn't rise.
That instead it sinks and wraps around me-
The smoke and your words and your taste.

This is short, but in such a brief grouping of beautiful words, it's so vivid!
It reminds me of one of my ex's, actually. Which is funny because at the time, I didn't smoke- but every time I smelled cigarette smoke, my heart would swim in remembrance of my loved one. When at first, I hated the smell. XD
Great job!
