Wear a Coat...And a Scarf Too.

Wear a Coat...And a Scarf Too.

A Poem by A.N.W.

her hair wrapped in a bun,

her legs tangled in bedsheets.

she looks away, a gleam in her eye,

a trickle down her face. tears down

her streets.

maybe it was what they said

or how they said it or the intensity

of their glares as they spoke it or

maybe she had blown the whole

thing, out of proportion.

maybe her dying self confidence

tore down her gates, her firewall,

allowing this attack to occur or

maybe they were not there

 at all.

when life gets low,

and life gets cold,

when the wind blows

you over into the snow,

a face full of ice and its

icy stab that follows,

remember in order

to prevent this, wear a coat.

and a scarf too.
