maturation beckoning...

maturation beckoning...

A Poem by John Jackson (El Juero)
"

autobiographical.

"
of an interrupted childhood,
he was never quite able
to find his place as the years went by.
merely existing, absent of living.
the boy, dishonoring Family.
married, not knowing how to love.
a Dad, clueless about parenting.
at age forty came the courage,
along with a white light reckoning,
of a life well wasted.
and then a beginning, a becoming...
a Father, feeling the heartaches,
but more so, unabashed joy.
Husband, available for all the love
that true partnership brings.
a Son, helping his elder folks
to live and die with dignity.

Boy, becoming Man

That's wonderful. A beautiful coming of age poem.

" a Son, helping his elder folks

to live and die with dignity"

Sometimes i'm doubtful about this thing. I'm not sure if i'll be around when my parents die; i can't be around. it's so hard.

Thanks for this beautiful piece.
