this is a succinct and poignant statement. it's true our senses can immediately conjure up memories both good and bad, and sometimes 'bittersweet.' even when we try to forget, it is inevitable that memories come flooding back if not for a certain scent. excellent observation.

My dad wore Aqua Velva! He is gone now, but every time I am in a drgstore, I have to open a bottle and take a whiff. Chlorine takes me straight back to the high school pool and silty, lake air takes me home, too.
