A Poem by John Jackson (El Juero)
"

Yet another chance to confront that which ails US

"

pale faces twist,
in self righteous indignation.

hoodied young man,
is acting his age.

in the land of the free,
he wanders behind enemy lines.

becoming prey,
it's flight, then fight.

predator, aka protector,
has one in the chamber.

and another one falls,
another young one falls.

and his parents ask
for justice, and a healing

and somewhere, someone wonders
what all the fuss is about.

It's a confusing case which is why it's in the spotlight. Was it him screaming or was it him screaming. Are there injuries to the back of his head? How about grass stains? In any case, your last line says it all and I reflect Sam's thoughts--we need to hear it. Good poem John.

Hopefully, the national outcry will do some good. Like you say, though, there are those who can't empathize. Words we need to hear, John. Thank you.

I know what you're writing about. I'm afraid I'm one of those wondering what all the fuss is about.
