When Grandma sings

When Grandma sings

A Poem by John Jackson (El Juero)
"

a bit of a memory...

"
a voice is remembered
from deep within my soul
her speech was worn then
kind of cracked and scratchy
from all those years of
congratulation and admonition
laughter and tears
oh, but when she sings
a glow brightens her face
becoming more robust
like a glimpse of youth's flower
standing straight and strong
the confident lyric of wisdom
when Grandma sings

John,
This is beautiful, brought tears to my eyes. Made me think of my grandmother.
What a lovely piece, and anyone can tell how much you loved your grandmother.
They are the best. I only hope my grandkids think of me and love me like that.
Wonderful poem. It doesnt matter how old they are or get or how good or not that they sing. Cause when they do sing, its beautiful, and you can hear the love in their heart and also lifes experiences.
Gosh Im glad I seen this and read.

What a wondrous dedication to a dear lady who still sings through you.. A life that is treasured for sure.. May we all hope to be touching lives so deeply with each year we're given.

Simply and wonderfully beautiful! Makes me cry with joy to think of such a lovely lady singing like an angel; what treasure she gives you. (Grandma)

Just a beautiful reminiscence of that woman, our second mothers, whose words, wisdom and songs are missed everyday.

I loved the picture of you and your grandmother. I had a neighbor, once, whom paused in their driveway close to my kitchen window and listened to me sing. Once, remarking to my daughter, that her mother must be happy today, because I was singing. How delighted with our lives we are when we burst out in song. What a sweet memory of days with your grandmother. We don't have to dream of younger days; we carry them with us always! A lovely and sweet write!!
