The battle inside.

The battle inside.

A Poem by John Jackson (El Juero)
"

Stay strong, John.

"
I once had to self medicate to function.

I killed that Demon, and now life is good.

Until the end of my days, I must be ever vigilant.

You see, that Demon I killed has a twin.

And he really wants me to drink and use,

                               so he can win.

                                     Again

I am celebrating 11 years clean and sober today.

I am very grateful and humbled to be here, still.

I am so very proud of your survival and commitment to continue to do so~ I watched substances destroy too many people I cared for~ never touched the stuf and never will~ burying relatives who didn't need to die kicked me out of any possible vestiges of inclination toward use I may have had~ a powerul testament to the human will and spirit~ and I'm so glad you called it what it is~ a Demon

True conflict resdies within as shown so aptly in this short piece. Nice work.

What a powerful confession.. a warning to each of us, and a triumphant song of praise to the One who freed you. My heart is filled with thanksgiving for your new life of celebration over these 11 years.
