Use me

Use me

A Poem by ayejodie

I have read all of the tricks in the book.
How to love, be loved.
'Flutter your lashes, make him feel important'.
And so I did....

The drunken night gets less vivid,
We talked, and kissed.
You told me things I've heard before,
they somehow seem more real when you say it.
And so I believed.

The night is over, all too soon.
You hold me like I've always craved,
briefly, I feel safe.
You whisper to me and lead me astray.
So I followed...

You take all of me, I have left to give.
Colder now than before.
Still drunk you manage a careless arm around me.
Realisation that I have been used.
Once again. So I crumbled.

Lying there, I didn't understand.
I only ever searched for love.
Another bed of false hope, an echo of my lonely heart.

And so, I left.
