The Rant About Time

The Rant About Time

A Poem by Anastasia Rae
"

This was an assignment I had to do for creative writing years ago when I was in junior college.

"

Time is all around us,

no matter what we're doing

when we're sleeping.

Even though we can't see it

it is there, tick tock.

A place where there is nothing but time,

like a twilight zone episode;

"all the time i need and all the time i want."

Bending clocks to bend time.

There are no clocks in prison,

but there is an abundance of time.

I can't think of something we need more than time

other than food, air and water.

We are obsessed with time and clocks.

The persistence of memory indeed!

All the time in the world,

represented by a clock, give us time!

time to ponder the prescence of our own memory,

and also the memories within.

Author's Note

Anastasia Rae
The assignment was we were given a list of famous paintings and we had to choose one and write about what we felt when we looked at it. The painting I picked was Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali.
