Just a short action sceneA Story by Baird WahlanderI just came up with this little tid-bit of a story while listening to the Kill la kill soundtrack. Don't worry, none of this is really supposed to make any sense, just a writing exercise. He stood there; arms
crossed and chin slightly pointed in the air flashing a cocky grin at me. He
looked down on me from the stage and jeered in my direction in a loud booming
voice. “So, Jiro Makuza, we
meet again,” he shouted, taking a step forward and dramatically spreading his
arms wide. “Welcome, welcome, I see you’re here to challenge me… is that
correct?” “Unless,” I
called back, “you want to surrender and I just take your weapon here and now?” The
guy laughed, sending echoes through the gymnasium, and soon his goons at the
foot of the stage joined in. “Alright, so if it’s a fight you want…” His stance
suddenly shifted into a more aggressive one and he threw back his large coat
revealing a much thinner build then I was expecting. He then pulled out double
revolvers from his belt, spinning them old western style, and aimed them at my
head before his coat fell to the floor. “It’s a fight you’re gonna get.” I shoulder off my case
and grimly planted it in front of me. “Fine.” Opening it I brought
out my scythe, swinging it over my shoulder. “Let’s make this quick.” Lowering his guns he
laughed. “Really? Heheh, kid you just brought a blade to a gunfight,” He
brought the revolvers back up. “Bad move.” I heard the shot before I felt it
whiz over my head as I ducked underneath, then took off running. “Crap,
slippery little-.” He fired another shot and I side-stepped, deflecting it off
the edge of my blade. I darted forward as another whipped past my face and I vaulted
over a goon’s face with my foot, landing on the stage. “Sup,” I said with an
upward inflection of my chin. He gritted his teeth and sent three more shots my
way. Deflecting two and dodging the other I spun my scythe upwards aimed at his
midsection, but he was too fast. He hopped backwards and fired. This time I
swung my weapon in a circle, flicking the bullet away and continuing my
advance. I slashed over and over and he kept dodging, shooting, and blocking
with his pistols, both of us locked in a deadly dance. Blocking a shot, I
pivoted on my right leg to wind up for a powerful strike only to have a gun
stuck in my face. I froze. He cackled. “Gotcha!”
He pulled the trigger and the gun gave a dry click. A smile spread across my
face as the color drained from his. “No, got you.” I hit
the revolver aside with the butt of my scythe and head -butted him in the
nose. He staggered backward with blood exploding from his nostrils and I
brought the blade up to his neck. “Drop the gun,” The other pistol clattered to
the floor. “Now do you yield?” He stayed quiet, his breathes shallow. “Nex
‘chamber’ Dimitrii, do you yield?” I said firmly, pressing the blade closer to
his neck. A trickle of blood spread across the silver blade. Nex dropped his
chin. “I admit defeat…” He
murmured. “I yield.” I brought my scythe
over my shoulder and held out my hand. “Your weapons,” Nex picked up the gun
next to him and shamefully stood. He walked over to the second revolver and
lifted that into his other hand. “Here,” He grumbled,
placing the guns into my outstretched hand. “I’m guessing you’ll be going after
the others now.” I held my scythe in the
fold of my arm as I slipped the twin revolvers into the back of my waistband. “You’re
god damn right.”
