What a Blessed Burden to Bear!

What a Blessed Burden to Bear!

A Poem by Bee
"

A poem from a while back that I recently touched up. A very whimsical, very abstract expression of a very vague frustration.

"

What did they tell you?

Did they say you're not worth it?

Are you too much trouble for their simple minds?

Is your depth so difficult to define?

Listen here, my child,

Your mind's a universe,

So vast and magnificent and insignificant,

And as blind as it is blinding.

So complicated, out-dated, overrated-

That's what they said.

You're breathtaking and beautiful,

But who'd bother to look your way?

Do you cry tears of starlight?

Galaxies swirl in the shadows of your feet,

And constellations crowd your fearful face.

When you collapse, you'll take that world with you.

You're oh so small, and oh so frail,

Your brittle bones and paper skin crack and split when touched.

Does it pain you, trying to contain you?

But your mind's a universe -- how blessed to bear such a blissful curse!

Author's Note

Bee
There is a specific meaning I had in mind while writing this, but I'd love to hear what other people take away from such an abstract piece! Definitely not my best work, but I liked the concept enough to post it anyway. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Thanks for reading!
