Many Moments

Many Moments

A Poem by Nora Mandrus

Your eyes say more than your mouth ever could.
As we carry the torches,
I know why we made it this far.
Victory tastes sweet on the tongues of the victors.
We regained what was taken.
The sun sets on another war.
Another year.
Time is our currency.
Life is spent and wasted.
But there is always a tomorrow for someone somewhere.
Never give yourself over.
Keep your chin up.
There's a friend waiting round the corner.
Walk
and you'll be bound to hit some opportunities.
What more can we ask for than a path to move forward on?
A yellow brick road?
Two roads that diverge in a wood?
Your eyes say more than your mouth ever could.
I'll always be listening.

You never showed me this one. Beautifully descriptive. I love the references that help to convey the message with proper imagery. And it's surprisingly encouraging and has an emotional lightness to it. The repetition at the end brings it back to the main message before you close with a reassuring "I'll always be listening."
