Chapter Two

i'm not sure about this chapter but im putting it up for feedback so i can improve and continue it. opinions?

Chapter Two

 

“Hello, April.” I looked up at my instructor from new eyes. His lips moved in a way that made them look soft to the touch. I raised my hand to touch my own lips and knew that our lips weren’t really soft but the material had a way to make them seem it.

“Hello, Juniper,” I responded. My own voice scared me. It came out too clear, like a better version of my old voice. But I wasn’t sure better was the right word. My voice was well, less human.

Juniper laughed curtly and said, “It takes some getting used to, these voices. And, well, everything else as well.” We were doing voice practicing, trying to help me speak normally.

I looked down at my lap. I was wearing clothes that had been given to me"simple jeans, a shirt, and some made-for-Them shoes. They fit smugly and were as comfortable as anything on this body got. This isn’t so bad.

I knew I was lying to myself but I couldn’t help it. “Where will I go?” I whispered, hoping Juniper would hear me and I didn’t have to repeat myself.

“Whichever Sector you choose, as long as it’s not Sector Four, of course,” he replied, leaning against a clear glass counter that stood in the sterile white room that we were in.
