Afterglow Afterthoughts

Afterglow Afterthoughts

A Poem by Luna Ashgrave
"

A man contemplates his state of mind after giving in to his lover's desires

"
Cotton sheets drape us both
as she in slumber lies with me
Beautiful afterglow enraptures her
Oh god what have I done?

Her alabaster bottle now broken
Was I right to give in?
She begged and pleaded for me
Yet I've never felt more empty

I don't want to scar such tender heart
But this guilt; it's overbearing
Maybe later I'll tell her
But will she understand?

For now dear, dance in dreamland
Tomorrow my truth will be told

Note: This is my first submission to this site. This isn't one of my better works per se, but I'm "testing the waters" and looking for some critique to improve myself.
