The Horizon

The Horizon

A Poem by Arthur Weil

From the mountain top

Dazzling landscape

Stretch, view beckons

Reach further

Touch the horizon

I Stare! Stare! Where earth and sky meet

Keep my focus

On the fine line between dark and light

Between evil and salvation

I step forward, leap, jump

Hoist myself onto a new platform

Rocks, boulders, now circumvent

Careful... Head downward

Thoughts flash

The past vivid, yet much disintegrates

Was it misery, neglect

Abuse, denigration?

The shock of life’s quakes

Like a choking inferno

Careful as I descend further

Carry heavy weight with each step

Back to my place

My walls of security

Neglected

Outdated

My house of dreams

Miss the fresh air of pinnacles

No idea how far my horizon stretches
