Reach Your Freedom

Reach Your Freedom

A Poem by Avis

A walk along a shaded path

treelined, it smells so sweet

You feel the cool breeze in your hair

the warm moss 'neath your feet

A brook flows oh so peacefully

soomewhere far off to your right

You breathe in deep, the eagles call

and all burst into flight

You hear their wings beat steadily

your heart starts racing fast

Running along beneath them all

for as long as your breath will last

You wish to reach your freedom

as these eagles, how they fly

To utilize that playground

which is the vastness of the sky

You stop to catch your breath

so wearily you look

Where now has gone that path

no more you hear the brook

You feel the panic rising

weighing heavily on your chest

Alas you've reached exhaustion

and your body needs to rest

You sit upon the moist, rich earth

and soon you begin to weep

You gasp in one last little breath

and succumb to the endless sleep

You've wished to reach your freedom

as the eagles, how they fly

And now your soul is soaring

through the vastness of the sky.

Very interesting, and nice. With my heart condition, I'll be extra careful. Sam
