Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day

A Poem by The Avid Bibliophile

He kneels to kiss my cheek

As he tells me goodbye.

“I’ll be back soon,” he says,

“So baby, don’t you cry.”

I force a small smile

I’m blinking back my tears.

I’m trying to be brave

And not reveal my fears.

A smile, then he’s gone

And I am left alone.

There will be no letters

No talking on the phone.

Gone to fight a battle

Bigger than you or me.

Saving lives, a hero

So others can be free.

I am so proud of him

I wonder if it shows.

Just how much I love him

I just hope that he knows.

A excellent poem. Always can write letters. When we are far away from home. Letters from family make a day complete. Poem is beautiful. It is gentle and kind. He would be proud of you also.
