The Calico CatA Story by Katerina COne mid-morning, while walking fast, I past by a grey-ish calico cat
Behind the illegal rusty fence, walking on a red dirt path, her eyes fixed upon the ground watching the red kick around her paws
I stopped for a bit and said, "Hello" The cat quickly stopped a bit shocked
She looked at me with eyes as blue as the clear morning sky and a meowed a quick, "Hello."
I smiled, then waved and bid goodbye and we turned and walked away But after a couple of steps we turned and looked back curiosity suddenly playing in our eyes
"What is she doing?" we asked ourselves and looked closely at one another I stared deeply into the calico's eyes She stared deeply back into mine
For a split second I thought I saw a little girl A little girl behind an illegal rusty fence walking down a red dirt path watching the red kick around her feet looking at me with curious eyes as blue as the morning sky staring deeply back into mine
I wanted to walk towards the little girl Wondering if maybe she was lost I wanted to poke my fingers through the fence and ask what she doing Why she was walking alone mid morning
But before I could, she turned and quickly walked away With a quick smile she disappeared around the bend So I looked away, and stared back at the ground, watching the red kick around my feet © 2016 Katerina C |
