A very-soon dedication

A very-soon dedication

A Poem by Avani Chhaya

Puffing a cigarette on the outskirts of the windy-cobbled path
Beneath flakes of white petals
The salt-and-pepper hair
Greased into imperfect waves of an unknown certainty

Shuffling the beaten black sneakers
Casting sideways glances with light-brown eyes
Parting thin lips in a wayward smile, creasing parenthetical dimples
Carrying an ever-so-soft, unbroken love

Tripping gracefully into compliments soaked in sincerity
Breezing into the ungrounded future, whirling past the present
Questioning the year's expanse filled with sweeten moments
Blowing ant-size problems out of proportion only to become muddled with the world's burdens

Not daring to be influenced by the weather
Shaking with uncontrollable lust in darkened bedrooms
Raging into a tightly-grasped passion keeping company with regret
Walking with a casual laziness, indifferent to time's quick stampede
