The perfect recipeA Poem by Avani Chhaya1/4 cup of sugar, granulated 2 teaspoons of appetite, of desire, of wanting it, of needing it to satisfy the hunger 1 tablespoon of modesty 1 1/2 sticks of butter, unsalted with flakes of humbleness, of bringing you back to unprecedented reality, of grounding you again 1 ounce of respect 3/4 cup of decency a pinch of pure affection, unaltered the czar of dictating a minute portion, tainting the entire pan tyrannizing my emotions and pushing them to alleyways lined with grime-covered brick walls, avoiding the infestation of one-toothed rats squandering any outside admiration accepting all forms of flattery, verbal praise required garnering whipped hatred with a loathsome crystallized surface sharing the heavy heart covering the edges with a frothy version of anger, liquidized to prevent overheating thank the deities for you, my oasis of comfort, my refuge in the horoscopes for providing the caramelized middle - sweet with unlimited tenderness my dish would fall apart, crumble to pieces without the center... it would turn to shattered bits of broken glass with empty beer bottles, pungent with the odor of refuse sprinkled with a light layer of tears, saddened with past emotion, infused with the immobility of doubt, unable to move forward without you, my only salvation serving size for eight.
