Hide-and-Seek

Hide-and-Seek

A Poem by Amanda Avalon

Hide -and-Seek
(an imitation of James Galvin’s Show-and-Tell)

Here lies the spool and thread of endless long-winded road where I’m stranded at the fives and times of life.
Here lies the screaming voice, Roy G. Biv trails and clutter.
Here lies the sharp corner of a rounded
wooden desk on which the Spirits pushed, and split her chin skin.
They seem a clouded puff of tobacco smoke in storm.
You think they don’t like to watch?
Don’t you think they own binoculars?
                                This is what they’re thinking:
soon enough, soon enough.
See? That’s another line of chalk on the board.
      See? Here comes another tornado.
                                 Hey, there goes the lightbody.
Do you think those souls are blind?
