Still Waters Interrupt

Still Waters Interrupt

A Poem by Amanda Avalon
"

An assignment in which we had to "translate" a foreign language poem into our own interpretation of what we think the words may mean.

"

Prove me wrong tonight
my proposition is satisfactory
Sunday school is forbidden
military, arbitrary
or the ordinary that worries me.
Come imagine this or die trying
my lover or enemy
for this is true,
this is for you,
die trying or come inside
after still waters interrupt
some motor cut his foot blood splatter on shirts
or some torture otherwise
or some swing at my mother
some far continent will fall
for order has never restored after
this girl has run from home,
from new to old they take
my afterlife and or my birth.

Still waters sometimes I wander
the underside as moons rise
or I shout melodramatic musings endless.
Still waters
Some found skating after winter falls.

Still waters
some legs tapered over the edge
or some fish I catch till they are released.
Still waters
some legs hang some so far over that edge,
cut them off.
