Ending Vacation, Toll Violations

Ending Vacation, Toll Violations

A Poem by Amanda Avalon
"

Thoughts on the road back home... Written 4/2/04.

"

Why don’t we go for a drive
We’ll take the scenic route
There’ll be lots of stops along the way
Flying solo, yeah
That’s the way for me
My thoughts racing
My mind pacing
My mood changing
With each passing mile

Sister’s got no love for you
She’s passed out snoozing
You should be too
But when you’ve got ideas
In the ever-shining sun
Sleep does not come easy
Not when you’re the only one

I love this! I'm on the road alot and can relate to the lines "But when you've got ideas in the ever-shining sun, sleep does not come easy. Not when you're the only one."

This is compounded by the fact that I live in a sparse, rural neck of the woods. Not alot keeps a man awake when he's "flying solo" mile after empty mile. It is a somewhat comforting feeling, and nice to see that you've captured it! Thank you!
