The Creepers

The Creepers

A Poem by Amanda Avalon
"

Random first line poetry workshop experiment from Spring 2007. Revised 2008.

"

You’ve gotten in through the transom

“Well, well, what have we here?”

Together, we ransack the place

Breaking

Taking all we desire, leaving some things

Out of reach. These agents can poison, ya know

You left a window open-

I refused to climb in.

A lie, it was presented

No question as to why

These reveries of mine

Lead me to the dimmest corner of every room I find

A sleeve, a wrist,

A hand at my blouse

I wipe my lips,

And shiver at the house
