Chapter 5

Chapter 5

A Chapter by Ava

Three days past, and Simone hadn’t gone to school. She was too embarrassed to appear there again.

“You can’t just go and do things like that, Simi,” Miriam said over the phone, sighing. “I’m not sure how to fix it this time.”

“I know, I’m sorry. I really got out of hand there. How much do you think Michael hates me now?”

“He could never hate you. Last time I spoke to him, he was really happy to have met you.”

“I love him so much, Miriam.”

            “I know you do.”

The phone beeped, signaling someone was on the other line. She checked the screen. It was Michael.

“I have to go, see you at the festival.”

            “Okay, bye.”

Simone quickly switched the phone to Michael.

            “Hello?”

            “Simone, it’s Michael.”

“I know. Listen Michael, I’m really sorry about what happened that day.”

“Don’t worry about it, really. I was wrong to yell at you. People get angry at times, I shouldn’t have blamed you.”

            “You’re way too nice…”

            Michael laughed.

“So are you going to the Spirit Day Festival?” she asked.

“Actually, there’s something I want to ask you. I have something to do on that day, so could you take care of Jane for me?”

“What? Me? After that whole scenario?”

“You’re the only person I can honestly trust,” he said. What about Miriam? Simone thought, but decided against on mentioning it.

“Alright then, what do you have to do?”

The line was silent for a couple seconds. Finally, he spoke. “It doesn’t concern you. I just need you to make sure that Jane is safe and is having a good time, okay?”

            “Yes, sure, anything.”

“Thank you so much, Simone. This is why I like you so much.”

            Simone blushed. “Oh,”

“I mean, like as in, because, uh…” He coughed nervously.

Simone giggled. “It’s okay, Michael, because"

A loud voice rang in the background of Michaels phone. “So sorry, Simone, I’ll talk to you later.” Michael said, quickly hanging up.

Simone sighed, dropping her phone to the floor and tried to get some sleep.
