A Poem by Autumn's Offspring
"

about a typewriter

"

You are my weapon,

and this war is more

than a single word

scrawled across a page.

Our war will fill the holes

gaping in our modern stage.

Fingers against keys is

the sound of lead cutting

through the knees of my enemies.

They bow before me and I know:

black ink on

a white sheet

can tear you apart.

All I’ve needed was

the alphabet, some punctuation

and all I’ve learned since

my instantaneous initiation

into this culture;

parasitic blood sponge,

burrowed in our pores.

You are my weapon

because if anything is certain,

art wins wars.
