Burning Alive

Burning Alive

A Poem by oughtum

your body smolders

to the ground

Once soft skin

now charred and burnt

Once bright eyes

now dismal and vague

I remember telling you to burn

but not like this

not like this

Words I can't take back

will haunt me every day

screeching and crying out

wailing

desperate

faded echoes

I will hear every night

I didn't want this

not like this

not like this

Ah the bitterness of words better left un-said, nicely penned, you can feel the guilt dripping in each line.. "I wanted you to know but didn't want you to hurt" pretty much.
