A Single Teardrop

A painful realisation...

I remember that it was a sunny day

I didn’t expect things to turn out that way.

From nowhere, completely from out of the blue

You said it’s over and that we’re through

　

I thought that we were of a mind:

Meant to be; two of a kind.

Happy together, forever and always:

A united team ‘til the end of our days.

　

Where did it change, start to go wrong:

Have you been feeling this way for long?

What stopped you speaking-up before?

Do you really not love me anymore?

　

I cannot believe this is really happening:

You want to return your engagement ring?

Call off the wedding and the honeymoon?

It feels like you can’t get away too soon.

　

Dear God, how can you be so cruel and mean?

This is a side of you I’ve never previously seen!

Whatever did I do to you to earn this nastiness?

It’s a complete mystery to me, I must confess.

　

I watch as you turn to say your last goodbye

A solitary teardrop slips from your right eye.

As you wipe it away I realise something new:

A single teardrop is all I ever meant to you.

I truly enjoyed this short tale of regretful Ness , sorrow , lack of ability to fight for THEIR LOVE even though walking out that door is a debilitating known regret and haunting for the rest of that individuals life to them it was worth it for that moment to express them self and their point of view of where things stand between the 2
I thought it was very descriptive heart felt and brilliant

And yet sad and tragic too

My heart goes out to these to even if it is fictional or if it may be true maybe they were not suppose to separate and the 1 should not have allowed the other to give up on their live so easily

I have previously mentioned that that phrase is a lazy cop-out for saying something more interesting and meaningful. It's the sort of phrase you add when you cannot think of (or be bothered to think of) something a little more pertinent and relevant to the work. I would rather someone said nothing at all than leave that phrase. We all work hard to produce our work; the very least it deserves from readers is a comment that actually has something to do with what has been read, NOT a patronising clichéd cop-out.

I may get moaned-at for the feedback I leave, but it is never bland or meaningless. 'Thank you for sharing' is the epitome of both of those things - which is why you will never see me leave it as a comment on anybody else's work. I hope to provide a comment that means something...
