Thunder

Thunder

A Poem by Laura E. Aranda

I love to hear the thunder

Resonate through my soul

Fill me with that dread of '..to come'

Depth takes my breath away and

Leaves me anticipating whats next

I love to hear the thunder

It brings me back to earth's realities

It grumbles like I only wish I can

It stomps on the situations like I wish I was able

Thunder becomes my best buddy

My dumb goliath watching over me

My giant who angers easily at my tears

I love to hear the thunder

He can do nothing for me

But his smashing abouts shoot arrows

Throughout and I am satisfied

Very true Laura, our fears can be our best friends if we embrace them and turn them into our strength... reminding us that life is precious, motivating us to reach for the unknown in order to chase our dreams.. very well done.

When I lived in Florida (many years ago) in the summer months you could count on thunder coming through at least once a day. I had a lot of respect for the power of those storms. And you captured the essence of that power so well in this poem.

Its impossible not to feel awe in the presence of such raw energy. Something that can make us feel both energized and alive, while small and insignificant.

Nicely done!

i always had an affinity for thunder too. i love how you describe it sort of like a big brother looking out for you. raging and throwing itself on your behalf. "grumbling like i wish i could". that's a great line.
