What would she say?

What would she say?

A Poem by Laura E. Aranda
"

Let's be GrEeN together

"

What would Mother Earth say

If she came to us, in a crib she did lay

And as a child she did listen

Reading every untrue book the school's display

Her tears unseen, wet and glisten

Shaking her head at things in dismay

Now human, she sees it is 'we' who destroy

Her eyes take in all the schemes, and gimmericks so coy

While the sun peeked behind smoggy clouds so dim

Mother Earth focused on her eternal future so grim

As a youth she reiterated the hopes of a cleaner day

But the ones around her were breathing from lungs of gray

What can I do but accept what these creatures throw my way

Mother Earth faded back into the scenery and no one realized that she had went away

This is a very meaningful poem, and most people forget that we really do need to love the Earth, it's been dealing with us selfish brats since the first day!

I'm doing a school project on going green, let's hope that with our combined efforts, we can save the world together, and restore it to what it once was!!!

It is wonderful how well you have presented an important message. No mother should be treated the way our beautiful Mother Earth is treated. I applaud you - this is a subject we cannot bring up enough. Great Job Laura!
