Old man and the boy

Old man and the boy

A Poem by Laura E. Aranda
"

Be careful what you compliment

"

“Quickly now before they hear”

Hear what?

Hear me?

“Quickly stretch out yer hand, why do ye fear?”

My hand?

Yes yer hand!

But what you gave me, this is but only a poem,

“Not just any poem, boy,  but a

Horrible, trashy, stinky

No good, foul

Politically incorrect poem”

Why I don’t want this, old man

Take it back !

I beg you, please

“Of course you want it

It was created out of the disillusions and oracles who only tease

It was birthed from dried out hopes and washed up dreams…

and remember you were one who said you liked it.”

Very clever. Your poem speaks a subtle truth: We wanted it, we got it, and now we can't shake it.

Great poem!

It is quite something. Nicely done, the last stanza says it all!
