CaughtA Poem by Laura E. ArandaDoes this happen to you? I think this should be in spoken form...I might change it later and add to...I am never 'caught' With my pants around my ankles It has never happened I suck in my breath It just does not happen
When I was little I would pinch my sister Stick out my tongue at the back of my Father Purposely back in bike into the rear of my Mother's car Santa still came
In college I snuck out and back in after hours with my Senior boyfriend I was never crucified Prehaps that only happens to the perfect ones, no? I still stayed a prim, good student
After bathtime in my marriage bedroom I hurry to slip into the pretty nightie before 'He' sees me undone I always succeed in getting dressed before his footsteps quieten on our carpeted floor I am always ready
My life has always been a breath away A blink from A hair short of being 'Caught'
Or has it? Am I really nothing more than a legend in my own mind Did my sister tell Did my Father know Did my mommy frown Did the dorm mom wrinkle her nose as I snuck by
Did my husband just turn away uninterested and preoccupied anyway?
Prehaps life would not have been so bland if, by chance, I did get 'Caught' © 2008 Laura E. ArandaAuthor's Note
